Principal Message 19th April 2024
Dear Families,
A warm welcome back to all families for a start of term 2. As the warm days become less and there is less light in the day, it means winter sports have started and our colder winter months draw closer.
Next week there is another opportunity to make the most of the warmer weather when our community will have 5 consecutive days away from school.
Wednesday 24th April - Professional Learning Day
Thursday 25th April - ANZAC DAY
Friday 26 April - Time in Lieu for all staff
On Wednesday the 24th April, all school staff will be at school. It is a professional learning day for all staff. Together we will develop our knowledge and ability to enhance learning environments through the school and continue to develop the best possible learning experiences and environment for all our students.
I genuinely look forward to many wonderful experiences Term 2 will provide our 270 students. Many classes will be going on excursions, some have incursions where we have outside experiences come to Columba! The grade 5/6 and Grade 2 students will experience this soon when a space dome visits Columba!
We have our Cross Country Event just around the corner, and a fun Catholic Education week when will will visit other schools in our Parish, St. James Nar Nar Goon and St John's KooWeeRup.
Important Dates Term 2
In term 2 there are a few staff changes. These changes have been made to support teaching staff and support teachers with learning needs through the school.
- Liam Marson will be working as an Learning Support Officer on Monday and Thursday.
- Lizzy Cunningham will be in 5/6P on Wednesday and working in her Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHIPS) role on Thursday and Friday.
- Shannon Wilton will be in 1M on Wednesday and in 1GW on Thursday and Friday.
- Erin Howlett joins the Columba team and will be in 3/4F on Wednesday and 5/6K on Friday...welcome Erin!
We are very excited that we have been able to employee new staff, while maintaining continuity and high expectations and standards in our classrooms. How wonderful it is that all of our teachers have expertise in teaching and supporting student learning though the whole school.
We look forward to a wonderful Term 2 full of learning and fun.
Take care
Regards,
