The students arrived at school on Tuesday loaded with excitement for our big concert day! Students had a morning rehearsal, with their afternoon performance following straight afterward. It was then back to school for afternoon pick-up and a short break at home before returning to the Arts Centre for the nighttime performance! It was an extremely busy day!

Students had the full experience of what it was like to be a performer in a big production. They were able to see the theatre from different aspects: being on stage, looking out into the audience, moving around backstage through corridors, seeing the backdrops and curtains, and learning about the Arts Centre as an entertainment complex used by many visiting performers from Melbourne, interstate, and internationally. 

Students also come to understand the preparation that goes into a performance. Ms. Lucas and Mrs. Wilson have been practising dances and acting parts in class with the students for many weeks. Costumes must be arranged and hair and makeup are also part of the presentation for performance. Lots is considered to make a production a success and many thanks must go to the parents too for all of their help for this. 

Ms. Kelly Lucas and Mrs. Ellie Wilson started working on the production and pulling together ideas last year! There are a lot of complexities such as music choice, appropriate dances for age groups, appropriate costume in conjunction with dances, the sharing of acting parts among students, and creating equity and fairness in the opportunities provided for students to participate. Kelly and Ellie have done an amazing job and we thank them for all of their hard work in putting together an amazing concert!
