A LETTER TO THE STUDENTS OF COLUMBA

Dear Students,

As the much-anticipated holiday break arrives, I wanted to send a special message to kick off your time off. Every ten weeks (this time, it was eleven!), we get the chance to step away from school routines and embrace the magic of the holidays. I hope this message finds you, and your parents, bubbling with anticipation for the adventures and relaxation ahead!

First and foremost, I want to express my sincere appreciation for all your hard work this semester. Your enthusiasm for learning has truly made our school community shine. Your accomplishments, big and small, have brought great joy to many and continue to inspire us all. Most importantly, I'm proud of how we've grown together as a community of learners. Every one of you has faced challenges in your classrooms, and you've all risen to them in your own way. Whether it was showing empathy for others, offering a smile to a friend, lending a helping hand to a peer, showing patience when your regular teacher was away, or simply showing up when you didn't feel like it – it all matters!

Time to Recharge and Connect

Now, as the school doors temporarily close, it's time to unwind, recharge, and spend magical moments with your loved ones. This break is a time to embrace togetherness and create lasting memories. So, please be kind to your siblings and look after mum, dad, grandma, or whoever is taking care of you during these two weeks at home.

During your holiday break, I encourage you to step back from daily routines and enjoy life's simple pleasures. This break is a wonderful opportunity for reflection and gratitude. Take a moment to appreciate the little things and acknowledge the journey you've been on so far this year.

Stay Safe and We'll See You Soon!

As you embark on this holiday break, please remember to stay safe and take care of yourselves and those around you. We eagerly look forward to your return after the break, as we continue our educational journey together. Rest assured, we have exciting experiences ready for Semester 2. So, make the most of this break, recharge your batteries, and come back with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.

Happy June/July holidays, Columba Kids!

Pyjama Day This Friday!

Dear Families,

Get ready to snuggle up for a cause! This Friday, July 4th, we're excited to celebrate National Pyjama Day here at Columba.

What is National Pyjama Day? It's a wonderful initiative run by The Pyjama Foundation, dedicated to raising awareness and much-needed funds for children in foster care. By participating, you help support their "Love of Learning Program," which provides vital learning skills, educational resources, and positive relationships for these children. It's all about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable kids, one comfy pyjama day at a time!

Connecting Pyjama Day to Catholic Social Teaching

National Pyjama Day strongly aligns with Catholic Social Teaching by upholding the dignity of the human person, especially vulnerable children in foster care. It embodies the preferential option for the poor and vulnerable by supporting their education and well-being.

The initiative also promotes the common good by fostering a more just society where all children can thrive, and demonstrates solidarity by uniting people to support those in need. Finally, it addresses the rights and responsibilities to ensure every child has access to the support they deserve. It's a practical way to live out our faith by caring for the "least among us."

On Friday, children are invited to come to school dressed in their WARM pyjamas. Please ensure they are warm enough to be outside by wearing jumpers and jackets over their pyjamas as needed.

To support this fantastic cause, we kindly request a gold coin donation from each child participating.

As a special community event, our school leaders will also be visiting the kinder to share in the spirit of the day. There will be no parade for the Pyjama day.

We hope you can support this meaningful initiative and help us make a positive impact!
