Principal Message 10th June 2022
Dear Families,
What an amazing fortnight we have had. The highlight being our Columba Day yesterday where we could all be in the church together again as a whole school, something we have not done since the start of 2020. The feeling around the school while students were munching down their pizza was, 'we are back'. We are back meaning that our community spark was again alive, and the realisation that celebrating together was something we had missed but are so excited to have back again. Thank you to the Parents and Friends for their contribution to the day by supplying a pizza lunch for all our students. Their continued support is welcomed and appreciated.
As promised my message for this week is shaped by our School TV resources that I am hopefull parents are accessing. It is an excellent resource that gives us some great ideas, strategies and actions that parents can put in pace to help create happy and harmonious homes. This week it is on screen time.
Managing Screen Time
Many parents have reported excessive screen time as the number one health concern affecting kids, especially now in the hyper-connected world we live in. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that there should be no screen time at all for children under two, less than an hour a day for children aged from two to five, and less than two hours for five to 17 year olds. However, these guidelines have been disputed by experts and often ignored by families. Parents must play an important role in modelling a positive approach to using screens, and assisting children to navigate the content they access.
