A Window Into Learning At Columba
Grade 4 Camp
Our Grade 4 students have just returned from a memorable two-day camp at Waratah Beach Camp, held from Thursday, September 11th to Friday, September 12th. The students had an amazing time making new memories and enjoying a variety of fun and challenging activities. The camp's tailored program allowed students to engage in a range of adventure and team-building exercises designed to promote teamwork, initiative, and communication skills. Activities included bushwalks, campfire sessions, group games, team sports and lots more! They also took on specific challenges like Aeroball which was a big hit! A special thank you goes out to the dedicated teachers who attended and made the camp a memorable experience for all: Chris P, Richard, Donna, Sarah G, Liam, and Brianna. Your support and guidance helped our students grow in confidence and create lasting friendships.
We will have a full spread in the the next newsletter next term.
FATHER'S DAY
BOOK WEEK PARADE
Book Week at Columba is always a much anticipated event and this year didn't disappoint. We began with our Book Parade when we showed off a huge assortment of Book Character costumes.
After recess the students from grade 6 honed their leadership skills and lead a lesson for other students about one of the Book Week shortlisted books. Finally after lunch we were entertained by Meerkat Productions who explored the book, The Garden of Broken Things.
Thankyou to all parents, staff and students who made the effort to make this such an exciting event in the children's year.

Columba Principal Leads Dusties to Historic Premiership Victory
History was made on Sunday, 24th August, when the Warragul Industrials Under 16s Girls Football Team (the Dusties) claimed the very first premiership in the West Gippsland competition.
The Dusties took on the Phillip Island Bulldogs at Traralgon Football Ground in what proved to be a thrilling and hard-fought contest. Both sides showed determination and skill, but in the end, the Dusties proved too strong, running out winners by three goals.
What made the victory even more special for our school community is that the team was coached by none other than our very own Columba Catholic Primary School Principal, Andrew. His leadership, encouragement, and tactical nous helped guide the girls to this incredible achievement.
The celebrations were enormous as players, families, and supporters recognised the significance of this moment – not only a premiership win but the first ever in the newly established Under 16s Girls competition.
When asked for comment after the match, Andrew cheekily replied:
“Now I have one more premiership than Ross Lyon!”
On behalf of everyone at Columba, congratulations to Andrew and the Dusties on this historic milestone. We are incredibly proud to see our principal leading the way both in education and on the footy field!
